The Vomit of a whale is called Ambergris or grey amber and also called floating diamonds. It is a solid and waxy like thing. It is flammable and light grey in color. These wax excrement from whale’s digestive system. Whale produces it to get protection of its guts from sharp beaks of its food. The wonder is that wax vomit is sweet, musk like and earthy smell. These waxy things found in tropical seas. It is also called floating diamond.

These floating diamonds used in manufacture of rare and costly perfumes and scents. Ambergris is soluble in alcohol, ether, chloroform and also in certain volatile oils.  This makes perfume last longer.  Dogs are used to search this ambergris.

Whale is endangered species therefore doing search and selling of ambergris is illegal by law. Whale is protected under the wildlife protection act since from 1970. The interesting fact is that this whale vomit is very costly worth some Millions per kilogram.
